Established in 1998, Alumex boasts of over 25 years of providing high quality aluminum based products to the Sri Lankan market. The manufacturing process at Alumex has facilities for melting, extruding, anodizing and powder coating of Commercial and Architectural Aluminum profiles. It also has a fully equipped, modern wood finishing facility and is Sri Lanka’s only aluminum manufacturer with in-house die manufacturing capability that uses state-of-the art CNC machinery, and CAD/CAM technology for die designing and manufacturing as per the requirements of its customers. All the raw materials used in the process are from world-renowned manufacturers in the UAE, Germany and France. Alumex manufactures architectural profiles for partitions, sliding doors and windows, curtain walls and swing doors. And also manufactures specialized profiles for roller shutters, ladders, hand rails and display units. Alumex is the only company that is licensed to manufacture tested aluminum proprietary systems for AluK of Italy and Fletcher Aluminium of New Zealand.

The company’s vision is to be the Premier Aluminum Extrusion Manufacturer in the South Asian Region. In attaining its vision, Alumex also places great emphasis on being an environmentally friendly and socially responsible organization. It is committed to protecting the environment by constantly monitoring employee health and safety, atmospheric emissions, waste water effluents and solid waste generated by the manufacturing process and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. In addition the company uses eco-friendly chemicals in every process at Alumex.

As a way of giving back to society, Alumex also conducts fabricator training courses in its fully equipped training school at Makola in order to propagate the usage of aluminum in building construction work. These courses are conducted free of charge by well experienced staffs that are fully conversant with the trade. Alumex has conducted training for over 2000 participants and at present have exclusively signed up with the Vocational Training Institute to conduct the level 3 fabricator training programmes in five centers in the Northern Province (Jaffna, Vauniya, Killinocchi, Mannar and Mullativ) and in Galle, Ratnapura, Kurunegala and Ratmalana.

Alumex products are available through an island wide distribution network in Sri Lanka consisting of 57 dealers and five Alumex distribution centers in Makola, Kotte, Jaffna, Anuradhapura and Ratnapura. The Group is planning to add four more distribution

centers to this network in the near future. Alumex also prides itself on providing superior after-sales service and support. Customers can benefit from site visits, on-site training and troubleshooting as and when required. All their products are provided with warranties with periods up to 10 years.

With the rapid growth in the construction industry, Alumex has seen a considerable increase in demand for the products they manufacture. With the influx of high-rise constructions, Aluminum extrusions have become an invaluable product mainly due to its ability to substitute timber based products. ALUMEX – “Alumex System Design” 2013

Alumex recently conducted a Fabricating training workshop at Hotel Global Lanka Tours for the Fabricators  under the theme” Alumex System Design” with one of the main Dealer of Alumex Group "Glass & Aluminium". There were seventy eight Fabricators from Glass & Aluminium who participated in this event. The full day training was held at Global Lanka Tours Hotel in Colombo.

Sri Lanka Hayleys acquires Alumex group for Rs2.185bn

Nov 04, 2010 (LBO) - Sri Lanka's Hayleys conglomerate has bought the Alumex group, a big manufacturer of aluminium extrusions, for 2.185 billion rupees, a stock exchange filing said.Alutec Anodising & Machine Tools, known as the Alumex group, has five subsidiaries and has a market share of around 55 percent in the local market, Hayleys said in a statement. Alumex employs about 400 people and has a manufacturing facility on a seven-acre site in the Sapugaskanda industrial park north of Colombo.
